The History

When the white settlers came to the Black hills they signed a treaty to the Sioux Nation that lived there so that they can keep there land and let white settlers travel through safely.

But then that promise was broken when people found gold in the black hills and that is when they started construction with Mt. Rushmore

The project was started by a famous architect at the time known as Gutzun Borglum who also had ties with the KKK.

When they started the project more white settlers came forcing the Native Americans to assimilate into white culture.

During the project when they had just finished the heads of the monument Borglum had heart problems and died so they had to stop the protect all together leaving the protect unfinished and rubble underneath

To this day some might see the monument as a patriotic symbolism for America but some might see it as a sign of desecration.
